Overview of Fluconazole API

Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal agent used for the treatment and prophylaxis of a wide range of Candida and Cryptococcus infections. As an API, Fluconazole is supplied to formulation manufacturers for oral capsules, tablets, suspensions, and intravenous preparations.

Mechanism of Action

Fluconazole selectively inhibits fungal cytochrome P450‑dependent enzyme lanosterol 14‑α‑demethylase. This blocks the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, leading to increased membrane permeability and growth inhibition.
